Indie Shanti Valley - Podzimní káva
Indie Shanti Valley - Podzimní káva

Autumn is a season of aromas, colors, and warmth — a time that calls for a cup of exceptional coffee. India – Shanti Valley fits perfectly into this cozy atmosphere. This coffee is part of our Autumn Edition, a limited series that brings together a selection of outstanding beans with distinctive character and story. Every cup reflects the calm and depth of the season, inviting you to slow down and savor the moment.

Shanti Valley Estate is a century-old farm located in the Mallenahalli area of Chikmagaluru, at the foothills of Baba Budan Giri mountain, at altitudes ranging from 1,036 to 1,295 meters above sea level. According to legend, it was here that the pilgrim Baba Budan first brought coffee seeds from Yemen, laying the foundation of India’s coffee culture.

Traditional Indian coffee agroforestry faces many challenges — from land-use changes to farmers turning away from coffee cultivation, often seen as uncertain. Yet, it is these smallholders who produce remarkably high-quality coffee deserving recognition on premium markets.

Today, Shanti Valley is led by the fourth generation of the Shashidhar family, who continue to manage the land with respect for both nature and tradition. The farm is a thriving ecosystem — alongside coffee, over 20 species of fruit and medicinal plants grow here, providing shelter for dozens of bird, butterfly, and wildlife species.

Sustainability lies at the heart of the farm’s philosophy: rainwater harvesting, natural resources, and on-site organic fertilizers all play a role in protecting the soil, water, and biodiversity, ensuring the long-term vitality of the region and its coffee.

Only Arabica is cultivated here, shaded by native trees that create a natural microclimate and enhance flavor development. The cherries are hand-picked and naturally processed, allowing the coffee to retain its full-bodied sweetness and juicy character. In the cup, you’ll find notes of tarte tatin, dandelion syrup, and hazelnut — a flavor profile that beautifully captures the warmth and spirit of autumn.
