Finca Corintio: passion, roots, and flavor
Just 3 km from Santa Ana in Honduras, coffee with character grows. Since 1980, at an altitude of 1,650 m.a.s.l., among oak trees, cedars, and citrus trees. The Portillo family protects the water and forests here—because without nature, an excellent cup cannot be created.
Today, the farm is run by Alexander Portillo, the third generation of growers. He relies on shade cultivation: the cherries ripen more slowly, sugars become concentrated, and the flavor is clearer. Since 2021, he and his father have been systematically experimenting with fermentation and new processing methods (washed, honey, natural, and controlled fermentations), while also focusing on certified quality control. The goal is simple: a clean cup, greater sweetness, and more pronounced aromatics.
In March 2024, Finca Corintio won first place in the Denominación de Origen Marcala competition for the “best coffee in the cup.” Since then, their coffee has found its way to Spain, the USA, and Taiwan—and gradually elsewhere as well. This award is both confirmation and motivation for their continued growth.
Thanks to our production roaster Mario, a native of Honduras, this coffee reached us directly from the source. Last year, he visited local farms, met with growers, and experienced the entire cultivation and processing process. His personal experience, connection to family tradition, and sense of quality helped us select lots that will stand out in your cup as well.
